DocuLatino is een filmfestival georganiseerd door CATAPA. Met een stevige selectie van documentaires wordt de problematiek rond ontginning van natuurlijke rijkdommen en sociale, ecologische en economische gevolgen daarvan in Latijns-Amerika in the picture gebracht. Sprekers zullen door middel van getuigenissen of achtergrondinformatie elke film kaderen. De 9 de editie van DocuLatino zal prachtige documentaires brengen in vier verschillende steden, nl. Leuven, Brussel, Antwerpen en Louvain-La- Neuve.

In Brussel worden deze documentaires vertoond op de volgende data :

23/02 : WHERE DO YOU DRAW THE LINE ?
Where Do You Draw The Line ? vertelt het verhaal van een inheemse gemeenschap die strijdt tegen de gedwongen olie-ontginning in het Amazoneregenwoud in Ecuador.

24/02 : A TAJO ABIERTO
A Tajo Abierto (open-pit mijn) laat ons een kijkje nemen in het conflict dat een van de grootste goudmijnen ter wereld teweeg brengt. De documentaire legt de ware aard van de goud-industrie bloot en geeft ons een beter zicht op wat de werkelijke prijs van goud is.

25/02 : LAS DAMAS AZULES
Dit is een documentaire over de vrouwelijke activistengroep Las Damas Azules (de blauwe vrouwen), die zich verzetten tegen de mijnbouwindustrie in Peru. Ze verheffen hun stem voor de strijd om het water, de aarde en het leven en brengen tegelijkertijd het genderthema op de tafel.

DIT EVENEMENT IS GRATIS.

De editie in Leuven is tot stand gekomen door een samenwerking tussen CATAPA vzw, La Casa de America Latina, Certi and Justice et Paix.

DocuLatino is a documentary festival with an excellent selection of unique documentaries on the management of natural resources in Latin-America and the the social, ecological and economic impact on the earth. Guest speakers will introduce every movie with testimonies or strong background information. This 9th edition of DocuLatino will provide wonderful documentaries in the following cities : Leuven, Brussels, Antwerp and Louvain-La- Neuve.

Female activists raise their voice in the struggle for water, earth and life while placing gender issues on the table.

24/02 : WHERE DO YOU DRAW THE LINE ? An indigenous community fights against oil extraction in the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador.

25/03 : A TAJO ABIERTO 'Open Pit Mine' illustrates the true nature of the gold industry and informs us about the actual price of gold.
