Comme les EGEB l'expliquent, l'eau est un bien commun, indispensable. Cependant, sa présence en ville est de moins en moins perceptible. « Elle n'est plus qu'affaire de tuyauteries, de technologies et de spécialistes, au risque de ne devenir qu'un bien marchand. (…) L'eau doit rester un bien commun, c'est-à-dire rester accessible à tous. »
Les Etats Généraux de l'Eau à Bruxelles se réunissent en vue de réconcilier la ville avec l'eau. Ils tentent de renouer avec l'eau par des dispositifs sociaux et collectifs à l'échelle des bassins versants, ceux-là mêmes qui ont façonnés le paysage de Bruxelles.

Water is een gemeenschappelijk goed, Essentieel, maar steeds minder aanwezig als zichtbaar (natuur)element in de stad. Het is een zaak van (water)leidingen, technologie en gespecialiseerde beroepen. Het risico op vermarkting wordt elke dag groter.
De Staten Generaal van het Water te Brussel willen water op nieuwe manieren verbinden met de stad, doorheen het ontwikkelen van socialeen/of collectieve installaties, zoals regentonnen, infiltratiegeulen, grachten, vijvers, groene daken, openbare waterfonteinen,...

As EGEB explaines, water is an indispensable common good, but in the city we notice its presence less and less. This question of perception: "is no longer simply a matter of piping, technology and specialists, but the risk of it becoming a commodity. (...) Water must remain a common good, meaning accessible to all."
Les Etats Généraux de l'Eau à Bruxelles is about reconciling water and the city. EGEB are working towards this reconnection through social and collective dispositives.
